So, we made you a little something: your go-to hiking essentials checklist! This is your no stress guide for hitting the trail, designed for the girl who’s ready to move, explore, and look good doing it.

From what to wear to what to pack, we’re covering all the must-have outdoor gear (yes, including snacks). Let’s get you trail ready with none of the guesswork.

10 Things Every Day Hiker Needs

1. Hiking Boots
A solid pair of hiking boots with good tread can mean the difference between a great hike and a painful one. Make sure they're comfortable and broken in before you go to avoid blisters or sore feet.

2. Wool Socks
Speaking of blisters, wool socks are a game-changer. They help keep your feet dry, warm, and blister-free even on long or wet hikes.

3. Water
Staying hydrated is key, especially when you're gaining elevation or hiking in the heat. A reusable water bottle or hydration pack is a must. While not necessary, a bottle with a built-in water filter can come in handy if you plan to refill from a stream along the way.

4. Trail Snacks
What you put in your body matters, you want to fuel up with things that give you energy. Bring along high-energy snacks like trail mix, jerky, energy bars, or fruit anything that's easy to eat on the go and keeps you energized.

5. Layered Clothing
Even if the forecast looks sunny, the weather can change quickly on the trail. Dress in breathable layers that allow you to adjust as needed throughout your hike.

6. Sun Protection
Did you know you can still get sunburned on cloudy days? That's why it's important to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat, no matter the weather.

7. Navigation Tools
Even if you think you know a trail really well, it's easy to get turned around. Always bring a navigation tool with you. A map, compass, or downloaded GPS app can help keep you on the right path when the trail gets tricky.

8. Mini First Aid Kit
You never know what you might encounter on the trail, and it's always better to be safe than sorry. You don't need a full medic bag, just the basics like bandages, blister pads, and pain relievers.

9. Headlamp or Flashlight
Even if you plan to be back before sunset, it's smart to carry a light source just in case. A headlamp or small flashlight takes up almost no space but can make a big difference.

10. Leave No Trace Kit
One of the most important rules of hiking is to leave the area as you found it, so that others can enjoy it too. A small trash bag, wipes, and a trowel can help you take care of nature while enjoying it.

You don’t need a closet full of gear or a survival manual to hit the trail, just a few solid basics and your own adventurous spirit. Grab your Summit apparel, pack smart, and go chase those views.

See you on the trail!

I hike for work and 4-5 times a week myself! I am ALWAYS on the search for clothing that won’t restrict me and can handle the scrambling I do in southern utah
