Which is better, sewn-in bra pads or removable ones?
And why are Nani suits made with removable pads?
To be blunt, NANI pads are removable and adjustable because boobs are all different.
When NANI set out to make the perfect suit in 2015, the idea of sewn-in bra pads seemed like a great idea - we were making women’s lives easier! Pads sewn in place wouldn’t move around or fold in the wash. Sounds like the perfect idea, right? Well, if we all had the same size body frame with the same shape of breasts in the same location, then yes! But we definitely don’t.
Every woman is unique, and each has a very different body shape. Breasts can be high, low, wide, narrow, big, small, up, down, flat, plump, implants, or mastectomy. All shapes should be celebrated but each has slightly different needs. THAT is why we need pads that can be adjusted to fit each body.
After years of research, we learned that women with larger chests sometimes needed a larger size bra pad. Sewn-in pads can’t be switched out to allow for exchanging sizes. Women with higher chests needed their pads pulled up, or the opposite, lower set chests needed their pads down lower. Sewn-in pads didn’t provide that adjustability.
Women with large breasts or implants may feel like a bra pad is too much and want the option to remove it completely. Some women with mastectomies requested the ability to switch out bra pads for their own inserts. Nani pads are easy to take out or switch out.
Lastly, if you are washing your suit the correct way, the pads are less likely to fold. Which lets face it, folded pads can be annoying. Hand wash your suit and lay it flat to dry to extend the life of the spandex fabric. Read more about that here: Caring For Your Nani Suit
