What Size Should I Order at Nani? A Complete Nani Swimwear Size Guide

A lot of what we make is built compression-snug for real movement. Here's when to stay true to size, and when to size up.

True to size is Nani's intended fit: fitted, secure, built to move with you. Between sizes, or want a little extra room? Size up one. That's the basic rule. But swimsuit sizing isn't always intuitive: compression fabric, how it stretches once it's wet, and the fact that no two bodies read a size chart the same way can easily throw people off. Keep reading for why our fit runs close, plus a few category-specific details worth knowing before you check out.

Why Nani fits close

A lot of our designs, like bottoms, tops, and shorts, are built compression-snug on purpose. They're made to stay put through adventure. Whether you're swimming, hiking, or climbing over a rock, or building sandcastles with your kiddo. That's why true to size feels snug: it's the fit we built them for.

Dry fit vs. wet fit (the thing nobody tells you)

Here's the biggest part that trips people up: fabric loosens once it hits the water. Expect about 20% more give than what you feel trying it on dry. So if your true-to-size feels snug, almost too snug, standing in your bathroom, that's exactly right. It's built to ease up the second you're actually in the lake, not before.

Start with your true size. These are designed to feel close and supportive. Size up if you're between sizes or prefer a little more room.

Start with your true size. If the product name says "Oversized," it's already designed with extra room, so you don't need to size up.

What size should I order? Q&A

Do Nani swimsuits run small?

Not small — snug on purpose. Pieces like our bottoms and bralettes are built compression-style for real movement, so they fit close by design. Between sizes? Size up.

Should I always size up to be safe?

No — true to size is our intended, supportive fit, not a squeeze. Size up only if you want more room, or you're between sizes.

Why does my suit feel so tight when I try it on?

Because it's supposed to. Our true-to-size fit is intentionally snug on dry land — it's built to ease up by about 20% once it hits the water. If it feels secure but not painful, you've got the right size.
